CSALT 2 LENNOX HEAD CAMPUS
CSALT Academy Year Two: Discover Your Purpose, Lead with Impact
Are you ready to take your leadership, faith, and outdoor adventure skills to new heights? CSALT Academy Year Two is the perfect next step for graduates of CSALT Year One, offering an advanced program that combines professional training, spiritual development, and practical ministry opportunities. If you’re passionate about making a difference, growing in your calling, and enjoying outdoor adventures, this program is for you.
Why Choose CSALT Academy Year Two?
CSALT Academy Year Two is designed for young leaders who want to deepen their understanding of leadership, refine their spiritual gifts, and gain qualifications that open doors to outdoor recreation and ministry careers. Over a 10-month journey (Feb 15th – Nov 30th), you’ll live and study alongside a close-knit community of like-minded individuals in the stunning setting of Lennox Head.
To ensure accessibility, key partner CYC Burleigh Heads is offering casual employment at Camp Drewe, allowing students to earn approximately $15,500 annually. This financial support helps offset the program's fee structure, which is expected to remain around $15,500, similar to CSALT's first year. This makes the program both transformative and financially feasible.
What to expect
Certified Outdoor Leadership Training:
Earn a nationally recognized Certificate IV in Outdoor Leadership, delivered by Paramount Adventures, led by director David Payne. This training focuses on water-based activities, including surfing, stand-up paddleboarding, canoeing, and bushwalking, with sessions held at Camp Drewe and other stunning locations across the Northern Rivers, Gold Coast, and Sunshine Coast.Spiritual Formation and Personal Growth:
Weekly spiritual development sessions, hosted by Sam Tilly—the CSALT 2 Coordinator—dive into advanced leadership principles and personal calling. Through Bible studies, mentorship, and worship, you’ll strengthen your relationship with God and uncover your unique role in His mission.Real-World Ministry Experience:
Work directly with Christian Surfers Australia (CSA), supporting youth events, missions, and Surf Church Lennox. The placement component will be supported by NSW Regional Coordinators Juda and Lillie Leet, ensuring you’re equipped to make a meaningful impact in your community.Potential Overseas Adventure:
The program concludes with a prospective overseas mission trip to destinations like Fiji, Japan, or Hawaii. While this adventure is self-funded, casual work opportunities provided by CYC Burleigh Heads can help students offset these costs, allowing you to take part in a life-changing experience.
Advanced Leadership Focus:
The second year of the CSALT Academy experience builds upon the foundational training of the first year, with a focus on advanced leadership development. This phase takes the principles learned in the initial year and expands them into deeper and more nuanced applications of leadership.
A key feature of the second year is the Wednesday Formation Day, where students will engage with regular guest speakers. These key leaders—primarily from northern New South Wales and southern Queensland—will deliver in-person sessions, supplemented by Zoom calls when needed. These speakers are highly experienced and skilled practitioners in areas such as:
Mission
Evangelism
Leadership in Not-for-Profits
Surf Ministry
Their expertise will perfectly complement and elaborate on the concepts already covered in the first year, offering students a richer and more practical understanding of advanced leadership in their respective fields.
Program Highlights:
Location: Training and spiritual formation are hosted at Camp Drewe which has Surfable waves out front of the camp, with accommodation in nearby houses in the Ballina or Lennox Head suburbs.
Format: Two days of outdoor leadership training, one day of spiritual formation, and regular local mission involvement, Approx 2 days of paid employment through CYC Queensland
Duration: February to November (10 months).
Community: A cohort of 10–15 peers in an intimate, supportive environment.
Eligibility: While typically for CSALT Year One graduates, exceptions are being made for select students to ensure the 2025 program runs.
